Dear Students:
Welcome to our new students and welcome back to our returning students. I am looking forward to an exciting and productive year for all of the Santa Clara community * students, faculty, and staff.
I want to call your special attention to the schedule of events for Monday, September 18th. Undergraduate classes will meet on an abbreviated schedule, allowing 25 minutes for each class. Most classes will end by 11:55 a.m. on Monday. This schedule change was made in order to allow students to attend welcome events on Monday afternoon.
At noon, we will celebrate the Mass of the Holy Spirit in the Mission Church. All of you, regardless of your faith tradition, are invited and encouraged to attend. Come join in community prayer as we begin the new academic year.
Following the Mass, there will be a lunch on Bellomy Field. for entire campus community. Most other food service locations will be closed. Please come and enjoy the fun and the free food.
>From Bellomy Field, we will proceed to the Leavey Center where, at 2:15, the entire community will gather together for University Convocation. This event will highlight student achievements over the past year and celebrate the start of the new school year. Our keynote speaker will be Steve Nash '96, NBA MVP and guard for the Phoenix Suns. Admission will be by your Access card only.
Students who attend University Convocation will receive a free ticket to the live concert featuring Ben Lee on Monday evening.
