" @. Z* N5 }8 B% n$ i0 O9 OCode §23123) July 1, 2008. This law makes it illegal to use a cell telephone while driving, unless the phone is designed and configured to allow hands-free listening and talking operation and is used in that manner.  It will be
legal to use a Blue Tooth or other earpiece, however you cannot have BOTH ears covered. The law provides an
6 O7 |' `% l( [( s: ]exemption for emergency purposes, and for those operating a commercial motor truck or truck tractor (excluding pickups), implements of husbandry, farm vehicle or tow truck, to use a two-way radio operated by a push-to-talk
feature.

This law makes it illegal for a minor to use ANY
cell phone (even if it's hands-free), or ANY other mobile service devices used for communication, while operating a motor vehicle Even emancipated minors fall into this category.  It includes everyone under 18 years old.  No exceptions to cell phone use except emergencies.  For drivers under the age of 18, this is considered a SECONDARY violation.  A law enforcement officer may cite the driver for using a hands-free wireless device if pulled over for another violation.  However, the prohibition against using a handheld wireless device is a PRIMARY violation for
which a law enforcement officer can pull over a driver.
